PDI Dual Diaphragm Brake Booster Upgrade suitable for Nissan Patrol GQ Y60
A GQ Patrol with bigger tyres, a lift, a heavy touring load or a turbo conversion needs more help from its brakes than the factory booster gives. This PDI booster replaces it with a brand new dual diaphragm unit. It’s larger than the factory booster and has a higher assist ratio, so the same push on the pedal puts more force into the master cylinder.
It’s ADR tested and compliant.
Please note: the GQ version is built for the factory GQ 2 bolt master cylinder. If your GQ has been converted to a GU style 4 bolt master cylinder, order the GU version instead.
🚗 Suitable for:
- Nissan Patrol GQ Y60 with the factory 2 bolt master cylinder
📦 What’s Included:
- 1 x PDI dual diaphragm brake booster, GQ 2 bolt master cylinder version
🔧 Fitment Details:
- Check your master cylinder before ordering. The GQ booster suits the factory 2 bolt master and the GU booster suits the 4 bolt master. Apart from that, PDI say the two units are the same.
- Suited to trucks running a higher GVM or GCM, larger wheels and tyres, or touring, towing and off road setups.
- With the stronger booster fitted you can set the load proportioning valve (LPV) properly, rather than relying on the LPV rod spacer that many lift kits add.
- We recommend fitting braided brake lines at the same time. Line pressure goes up with this booster, and old rubber lines swell under pressure, which softens the pedal.
⚙️ Why Choose PDI:
- PDI (Performance Diesel Intercoolers) have been making brake boosters since 2019. They tested the common “30% upgraded” boosters on the market before designing their own.
- Two diaphragms and a larger diameter than the factory booster give it more assist.
- Brand new, not a reconditioned factory unit.
- ADR tested and compliant.

❓ FAQs:
Q: Can I fit a GU brake booster to my GQ?
A: Yes, if your GQ runs a 4 bolt GU master cylinder. Order the GU version. If it still has the factory 2 bolt master, this GQ version is the one you want.
Q: Do I need braided brake lines as well?
A: They aren’t required, but we recommend them. The booster raises line pressure, and original rubber lines can swell or fail after this many years on a 4WD.
