Toyota Landcruiser UFI Turbo Upgrade 1HD 1HD-FT 1HD-FTE | 16G 18G 21L 23L

This UFI turbo is designed & built to suit the 1H series of motors found in the 75, 79, 80, 100 & 105 series LandCruiser. It utilises the same flange as the factory CT26 turbo and bolts onto the stock exhaust manifold and exhaust system. You will have to modify your induction pipe to suit your new 4″ turbocharger inlet or we also have direct bolt-on pipes available for most vehicles from 80 Series, 100 Series and 79 Series to suit stock the airbox. 

How is this turbo better than the factory turbocharger?

1HD-T

On the 1HD-T engine, the factory CT26 Turbocharger is renowned for turbine shaft failure when the boost pressure is increased beyond 14psi.  When failure occurs, this can be detrimental to your engine.  UFI’s 16G is a great option for replacement and will deliver factory-like spool times while giving you the confidence to safely increase the horsepower and torque of your 1HD-T up to 200HP, or for those looking for a bit more punch, the UFI 18G will offer more power up top and is capable of achieving 240HP.

1HD-FT Engine

On the 1HD-FT engine, the factory CT26 Turbocharger is renowned for turbine shaft failure when the boost pressure is increased beyond 14psi.  When failure occurs, this can be detrimental to your engine. The UFI 18G is a great option for replacement and will deliver factory-like turbo response times while giving you the confidence to safely increase the horsepower and torque of your 1HD-FT up to 280hp. If you are looking for even more horsepower & torque out of your 1HD-FT, the 21L is a great option paired with a set of our +40 injectors & upgraded performance injection pump.

1HD-FTE Engine

The factory turbocharger on a 1HD-FTE is a great unit up to 17psi & 200hp. For those looking to get more, an upgrade is necessary. With a stock fuel injection system, the UFI 18G is a great option for those looking to make a substantial increase in horsepower & torque up to 300HP. With an upgraded fuel system and other supporting modifications such as a larger intercooler & exhaust the UFI 21L turbo is a perfect match up to 350hp. Following that, +70 injectors and a UFI 23L turbocharger will see up to 380hp and 1000NM of torque at the wheels.

Further Information on the 1HD-FT/1HD-FTE Power Upgrade

The most popular upgrade often for these engines is the 18G turbo as it provides the most all-around advantage when upgrading without the need to upgrade the fuel injectors as well. It is a great turbo choice up to 240HP on stock injectors (or 300HP when paired with 300HP injectors) and maintains remarkable turbo response in low RPMs. We see peak boost and torque generated from 1900RPM with this turbo. If you are chasing 300HP+ from your build, the UFI 21L is the way to go.

This turbo will provide peak torque at 2200RPM with over 30PSI of boost possible by 1900RPM with a set of 300HP fuel injectors to match. If you are seeking above 350HP, you cannot go past the UFI 23L. When paired with a set of 350-400HP fuel injectors, this turbo can flow enough air to keep the AFR clean, and provide more than enough response to daily drive while having HUNDREDS of horsepower and 1000+NM of torque available at the right foot.

We can also fit this turbocharger to your 1HD-FT or 1HD-FTE engine in-house. Once your turbocharger is fitted, we recommend booking in for a dyno tune at our Brisbane facility which features an in-house Mainline Chassis Dyno. If you have a 1HD-FT this can be done by carrying out a mechanical diesel pump tune. If you have a 1HD-FTE, a Unichip will be required to tune your engine for the turbocharger upgrade.

• UFI 18G = Suitable for 200-250HP/700NM or 300HP on FTE
• UFI 21L = Suitable for 250-330HP/900NM or 350HP on FTE
• UFI 23L = Suitable for 350HP-380HP/1000NM (Please select this turbo if HP goal is 350HP)
