The NPC 750NM Super Heavy Duty Clutch and Flywheel Kit, NPC part number NPC7678-1D, is the one we recommend for most 1KD-FTV Hilux builds. The factory N70 clutch only holds what the engine makes from the factory. Add a remap, a turbo or injector upgrade, bigger tyres or a trailer and it starts to slip. This kit pairs an NPC organic disc and pressure plate with a dedicated billet steel flywheel, and NPC have measured it at 750NM at the wheels on the dyno.

📦 What’s Included:

• NPC 750NM organic clutch disc and pressure plate (275mm)
• Billet steel flywheel
• Throw-out bearing with NPC’s custom steel bearing carrier
• Spigot bearing
• M8 serrated washers for the pressure plate bolts
• Clutch alignment tool

The disc, pressure plate and flywheel are matched and must be fitted as a set. With the gearbox out, it’s a good time to fit a braided clutch line, which NPC recommend with this kit, and a new clutch slave cylinder.

🔧 Fitment Details:

• This kit suits the N70 KUN26 with the 1KD-FTV. If you’re not sure it fits, contact us and we’ll check for you.
• A new billet steel flywheel is included, so there’s no flywheel machining.
• Download the NPC Fitting Sheet 4a for the NPC7678-1D kit (PDF) for the full fitting steps.
• Torque the flywheel (crank) bolts to 178Nm and the pressure plate bolts to 39Nm. Use new bolts and Loctite sparingly on both.
• Use the supplied M8 serrated washers on the pressure plate bolts. They must be no more than 13mm across and must not overhang the pressure plate, or they can damage the bellhousing.
• The steel bearing carrier has no retainer clip, and it doesn’t need one. Pack the grease notch inside the carrier and smear grease around the rest of the bore, or it can bind.
• Don’t grease the clutch spline. NPC pre-grease the disc, so wipe off any excess.
• If the clutch won’t release properly after fitting, the accumulator in the factory clutch line may be faulty. Bypass it or fit a braided clutch line.
• You may need to adjust the clutch pedal under the dash after fitting.
• Bed the clutch in with at least 1000km of normal driving before any hard use.

Q: 650NM or 750NM kit for my N70 Hilux?
A: The 650NM kit suits a remap only. If you’re upgrading the turbo, injectors or anything else, go the 750NM. We usually recommend the 750NM anyway. It future proofs the car and stops the clutch slipping under high stress, like beach towing or big tyres with extra torque.

Q: What’s the flywheel bolt torque on a 1KD-FTV?
A: NPC specify 178Nm for the flywheel (crank) bolts with this kit, using Loctite sparingly on the threads.

Q: Is an NPC clutch just a reboxed Exedy?
A: No. NPC make their own flywheels and modify Exedy components from other applications to suit the Hilux, which gives a higher torque rating with a comfortable pedal.
