This kit has everything needed to rebuild weeping or leaking swivel hubs and replace worn wheel bearings on the Toyota LandCruiser VDJ76, VDJ78 and VDJ79 with factory ABS, built from 08/2012, and the 1GD-FTV GDJ76, GDJ78 and GDJ79. It covers both sides and includes Japanese Koyo king pin, needle and wheel bearings plus brass thrust washers.

Q: Is this kit both sides?

A: Yes, this kit covers both sides.

Q: My wheel bearings are fine. Is there a kit without them?

A: Yes. If you only want to repack your wheel bearings, use the ABS swivel hub rebuild kit without wheel bearings.

Q: My VDJ79 is a 2007 to 2012 model without ABS. Will this fit?

A: No. Pre-ABS models use the coil-front swivel hub rebuild kit with wheel bearings.

To do your swivel hubs, we recommend having the following tools:

• Metric socket set: 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21 and 24mm
• Socket wrench with extension to suit the above sockets
• 54mm hub nut socket
• Breaker bar to suit the above sockets
• Torque wrench to suit the above sockets
• Drain pan (minimum 3L)
• Jack (bottle or trolley)
• Jack stands
• Flathead screwdrivers (x2)
• Steel hammer (claw hammer)
• Snap ring (circlip) pliers
• Brass or copper hammer
• Vise-grips or pliers
• Scissors or cutters (for plastic cable ties only)
• Seal puller tool
• Steel or brass drift, e.g. 6mm steel rod
• Razor blade (e.g. Stanley knife blade)
• Old toothbrush or wire brush for cleaning components
• Crowbar
• Large wood blocks (x2)
• Bearing and seal driver set: 39.5, 44.5, 50, 59, 72 and 81mm (not required, but can help)

Extras we recommend having around:

• Toyota Drain Plug Gasket 12157-10010 x2 (differential fill and drain plugs)
• 3.6 x 45mm split pins (x3)
• Cable ties, 300mm (x7)
• Brake and parts cleaner (lots)
• Paper towels or rags (lots)
• Penetrating fluid, e.g. WD40, Inox, CRC etc. (recommended)
• Multi-purpose lithium base wheel bearing grease, NLGI No. 2, 450g/1lb tub (x1)
• Molybdenum-disulfide lithium base chassis grease, NLGI No. 2, 450g/1lb tub (x3)
• Hypoid gear oil API GL-5, SAE 90 or 80W-90, 2.8L (Mobilube HD Plus 80W-90 shown)
