1VD-FTV Garrett PowerMax Turbo Upgrade suitable for Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series

The Garrett PowerMax 881604-5001S is Garrett’s upgrade for the single-turbo 1VD-FTV in the Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series. It bolts in where your factory turbo sits. Inside, the compressor wheel is forged and fully machined, a G Series design that flows 20% more air than the factory wheel.

With a tune, it suits builds up to around 260hp, about 194kW. The stock engine makes 151kW. It will run on the factory tune, but you won’t see the extra power. If you’re only replacing a worn turbo and don’t plan to tune, our 1VD-FTV Garrett Replacement Turbo is the factory unit, costs less, and is good for 170kW with a tune.

🚗 Suitable for:

• Toyota LandCruiser VDJ76 wagon, VDJ78 troop carrier and VDJ79 single and dual cab
• Single-turbo 1VD-FTV 4.5L V8 turbo diesel, 2007 onwards, pre-DPF and DPF
• Not the twin-turbo 1VD-FTV in the Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series

📐 What changes over the factory turbo:

• Forged, fully machined G Series compressor wheel with 20% more flow
• Wider compressor map than the factory turbo
• Same outline as the factory GTA2359V, with VNT and pneumatic actuation, so it bolts to the factory manifold, dump pipe and intercooler pipework

Gaskets, studs and nuts are sold separately. The Turbo Fitting Kit suitable for VDJ70 Series Toyota LandCruiser is in the Bought Together box below. Replace the oil feed line while you’re in there if it’s rusted or kinked.

Q: Do I need a tune?
A: Not to fit it. To get more than the stock 151kW, yes.

Q: Do I need to upgrade the fuel system?
A: Not to see a gain. Garrett’s own test made 164kW on the factory fuel system with a modified ECU.

Q: Does it suit the DPF models?
A: Yes. 2007 onwards, before and after the DPF update.
