Swivel Hub Rebuild Kit suitable for Toyota LandCruiser 79 Series 78 Series 80 Series 105 Series Pre 08/2012

This kit has the seals, gaskets and king pin bearings needed to rebuild weeping or leaking swivel hubs on the coil-front Toyota LandCruiser 78 and 79 Series, 80 Series and 105 Series. It covers both sides. Wheel bearings are not included, so it suits a rebuild where you are repacking your existing wheel bearings.

• 79 Series Toyota LandCruiser HZJ79 (10/1999 to 10/2007), FZJ79 (10/1999 to 02/2007), HDJ79 (11/2001 to 06/2007)
• 78 Series Toyota LandCruiser HZJ78 (10/1999 to 01/2007), FZJ78 (10/1999 to 07/2001), HDJ78 (11/2001 to 02/2007)
• 76, 78 and 79 Series Toyota LandCruiser VDJ76, VDJ78, VDJ79 without ABS (03/2007 to 07/2012)
• 80 Series Toyota LandCruiser FJ80 (03/1990 to 10/1992), FZJ80 (11/1992 to 02/1998), HZJ80 and HDJ80 (05/1990 to 02/1998)
• 105 Series Toyota LandCruiser FZJ105 (01/1998 to 09/2002), HZJ105 (05/1998 to 10/2007)

Suitable for coil-sprung solid front axles only. It does not suit the leaf-sprung 70, 73 and 75 Series (HZJ75, FZJ75), which use our leaf-sprung swivel hub rebuild kit, or VDJ76, VDJ78 and VDJ79 with ABS from 08/2012, which use our ABS swivel hub rebuild kit. It does not suit IFS models such as the 100, 200 or 300 Series.

❓ FAQs

Q: Is this kit both sides?

A: Yes, this kit covers both sides.

Q: Does it include wheel bearings?

A: No. If your wheel bearings need replacing, use the swivel hub rebuild kit with wheel bearings.

Q: Does this kit include the axle needle roller bearings and brass thrust washers?

A: No. Some 78, 79, 80 and 105 Series need these replaced as well. If yours are worn, contact us before ordering.

Q: I have an 08/2012 onwards VDJ76, VDJ78 or VDJ79 with ABS. Will this fit?

A: No. Your model needs the ABS swivel hub rebuild kit.

To do your swivel hubs, we recommend having the following tools:

• Metric socket set: 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21 and 24mm
• Socket wrench with extension to suit the above sockets
• 54mm hub nut socket
• Breaker bar to suit the above sockets
• Torque wrench to suit the above sockets
• Drain pan (minimum 3L)
• Jack (bottle or trolley)
• Jack stands
• Flathead screwdrivers (x2)
• Steel hammer (claw hammer)
• Snap ring (circlip) pliers
• Brass or copper hammer
• Vise-grips or pliers
• Scissors or cutters (for plastic cable ties only)
• Seal puller tool
• Steel or brass drift, e.g. 6mm steel rod
• Razor blade (e.g. Stanley knife blade)
• Old toothbrush or wire brush for cleaning components
• Crowbar
• Large wood blocks (x2)
• Bearing and seal driver set: 39.5, 44.5, 50, 59, 72 and 81mm (not required, but can help)

Extras we recommend having around:

• Toyota Drain Plug Gasket 12157-10010 x2 (differential fill and drain plugs)
• 3.6 x 45mm split pins (x3)
• Cable ties, 300mm (x7)
• Brake and parts cleaner (lots)
• Paper towels or rags (lots)
• Penetrating fluid, e.g. WD40, Inox, CRC etc. (recommended)
• Multi-purpose lithium base wheel bearing grease, NLGI No. 2, 450g/1lb tub (x1)
• Molybdenum-disulfide lithium base chassis grease, NLGI No. 2, 450g/1lb tub (x3)
• Hypoid gear oil API GL-5, SAE 90 or 80W-90, 2.8L (Mobilube HD Plus 80W-90 shown)
