The NPC 1300NM Heavy Duty Clutch Kit, NPC part number NPC7751-1D, is the most popular clutch upgrade we sell for the 1VD-FTV V8 LandCruiser 70 Series. The factory clutch only holds what the engine makes from the factory, and it’s well known for slipping once you start towing, fitting upgrades or tuning. This kit comes with a billet flywheel and suits a tune, exhaust, injector upgrade and turbo upgrade.

A slave cylinder is not included. With the gearbox out, it’s a good time to fit a new clutch slave cylinder and a braided clutch line for a firmer pedal.

🔧 Fitment Details:

• This kit only suits the VDJ76, VDJ78 and VDJ79 with the 1VD-FTV. If you’re not sure it fits, contact us and we’ll check for you.
• A billet flywheel is included, so your factory flywheel doesn’t need resurfacing.
• The 1VD clutch is not self-adjusting. Adjust the pedal and pushrod at fitment, then check them again at around 500km. Don’t over-adjust the pedal. The pushrod needs some free play, or the release bearing will sit loaded against the pressure plate.
• Download the NPC Fitting Sheet 3A for the VDJ 1300NM kit (PDF) for the full fitting steps.
• Torque the flywheel bolts to 182Nm and the M10 x 16 pressure plate bolts evenly to 77Nm. Use Loctite sparingly on both.
• Fitting takes around 5 to 6 hours. Side steps, such as ARB side steps, can add time if they get in the way of the gearbox crossmember mounts.
• Bed the clutch in with at least 1000km of normal driving before any hard use. Lots of gear changes and town driving is ideal, because it’s the engagement that beds it in.

A: The 1300 suits most tuned touring 79s. Go the NPC 1600NM if you’re running 35s, carrying a lot of weight, towing heavy or chasing big power.

Q: When should I replace the factory clutch?
A: Most owners do it when they tune the car, start towing or touring, fit bigger wheels and tyres, or add a lift kit and accessories. Do it before or with the tune, not after.

Q: Is an NPC clutch just a reboxed Exedy?
