If you are looking for a better than standard replacement for your 70 series 1HZ, choosing to tow heavy loads or running an aftermarket turbo kit below 500 Nm. Exedy HD ‘Sports Tuff’, the one with the pink cover, is the step up from a standard clutch. Exedy achieve this heavy duty rating by tailoring their standard cover to improve clamp load, which allows the transmission of increased engine torque with smooth take off drivability.

This clutch kit is rated to 520 Nm

Q: What kind of build is this clutch good for?
A: This kit is suitable for 90% of HZJ70, HZJ73 and HZJ75 owners. Stock injector pump, non intercooled or intercooled, with HD Auto, DTS or Denco Turbo kit, up to 33″ diameter tyre, towing up to 2.5tonne. We have a guide to 1HZ clutches here.

Q: What kind of power does a 1HZ make?
A: A stock 1HZ produces approximately 70HP and 240 Nm on our Mainline dyno at the rear wheels. When fitted with one of our HD Auto turbo kits, we can increase this HP and torque number to 130HP and 350-400 Nm at the wheels. There is a full performance guide here.
